What do I need to bring with me?
A1 provides everything you need to enjoy your day out fishing! All you need to bring with you is a hat, swimmers, towel, sunglasses, camera and BYO alcohol (preferably cans) if you wish.
Do you do customised tours?
At A1 we pride ourselves on being able to cater to all customers needs . We can provide a customised package that suits everybody, including a trip to Whitehaven Beach, snorkelling, island tours and whale watching (when in season).
Do you provide food and beverages?
A1 will provide water and soft drinks for all charters, and lunch will be provided for all full day charters (please advise if you have any dietary requirements upon your booking). Alcoholic beverages are BYO.
I have never fished before will someone help me?
The A1 crew are all very experienced in all aspects of fishing and thus are happy to help you. Our goal is to make your fishing experience a day to remember!
Can I bring my own fishing rod?
You are welcome to bring your own fishing rod, and A1 will provide you with bait and tackle on the day.
Do you provide snorkelling gear and stinger suits?
A1 provide all snorkelling gear, including a stinger suite which MUST be worn during stinger season . If you wish not to wear one you will be asked to sign a “swim at your own risk” waiver.
Am I guaranteed to catch a fish?
Although the Whitsundays is loaded with lots of beautiful reef fish, there is always a slight chance that they are just not hungry (but that is fishing). The A1 crew will always try our best to find the best fishing spots in the Whitsundays .
Can I keep the fish catch?
Absolutely you can keep your catch. In fact A1 will clean and gut it all for you! And if you don’t have any facilities for cooking your catch, we can recommend a number of Airlie Beach restaurants that will cook it for you here.
What if the weather is bad?
All of our charters & packages are subject to change in regards to the weather. You will be advised ASAP if there is any change to your booked charter, and if it needs to be cancelled you will be offered a full refund or the chance to reschedule.
Do you do half day or full day trips?
We have the option of a full day (7am-4.00pm) or half day (7am-12pm or 12.30pm-5:30pm)
What fish will I catch?
A mix of all reef fish and sometimes the occasional reef shark.
Can I bring my child?
Children are welcome aboard A1, however any child above the age of 2 years old is considered a passenger and therefore will need a ticket.
Will there be someone that can pick me up in the morning?
We offer a courtesy local pick-up from your Airlie Beach accommodation to the boat ramp. We can even pick you up from, and drop you back to, Daydream Island or Hamilton Island (conditions apply)!
Great full day out!! Variety of fishing locations, our biggest fish of the day was 2x lemon sharks!!! Caught enough for dinner.
